Clipse's Former Manager Sentenced to 32 Years
The gavel has come down hard for Clipse former manager, Anthony Gonzalez, as he was sentenced to 32 years behind bars on Monday.
Admitting to his participation as the leader of a drug ring that accumulated $20 million, Gonzalez, 34, received the minimum sentence based off of federal guidelines with it being partially credited to the fact that he was cooperative with the government along with the fact that his past criminal record was not outstanding.
Based on his cooperation once behind bars, he may find his prison sentence lowered even more.
As the leader of the organization, Gonzalez stated that he ran things primarily from Encore Lounge, a nightclub located in Virginia Beach, which has since then been shut down. His dealings in narcotics have been tied in connection with Tim Montgomery, an Olympic gold medalist, and Marlon Reed, former Bloods gang leader.
In his five year stint, prosecutors were able to find him responsible behind the distribution of over half a ton of cocaine, a ton of marijuana and hundreds of pounds in heroin that circulated throughout the region.
Known for his involvement within the community, many were in disbelief that Gonzalez engaged in such activity.
“These are obviously staggering amounts of drugs,” said Assistant U.S. Attorney Darryl Mitchell. “One can only imagine what that's done to the community.”
Now that his life has caught up with him, he can only look around and realize his misfortune and deal with the consequences ahead of him.
“I just want to say that I'm sorry to my family and I'm sorry to the community,” Gonzalez said to the U.S. District Judge Jerome B. Friedman.
Lawrence H. Woodward Jr, the attorney for Gonzalez, even added that he was very intelligent and unfortunately didn't utilize his potential to be successful in a more positive lane.
“It's always puzzling and sad when someone with that ability doesn't use it for constructive purposes,” Woodward said.
He added that although his client lived a fast and luxurious life, Gonzalez knew that one day the tides would eventually turn and he would find himself behind a prison wall or dead.
Walking away in handcuffs, Gonzalez was given support with around 40 people filling the courtroom and some saying “We love you.”
Alicia Isn't Worried About "Affair Rumors"
Over the last few months, Alicia Keys has made headlines for two things - her music and her alleged affair with Swizz Beats. The sordid details have been splashed across every blog, tabloid and news site all over the world, but Keys maintains that she doesn't let rumors get her down:
"From the beginning, I've had to juggle and weigh the silly things people say - and I've learned that they're meaningless and they're mostly inaccurate," Keys tells Daily Telegraph.
She went on to say, "...I don't worry about it, because there's nothing for me to deal with. I know exactly the person that I am and I feel very proud of who that person is."
Corrine Bailey Rae Back With 'The Sea
Looks like real music has officially returned. With albums in production or already released by artists such as Jill Scott, Sade, Maxwell, and the forthcoming Corrine Bailey Rae, 2010 will be an orgasmic display of musical talent! - Yes, we took it there. Corrine Bailey Rae, who's most known for her sweet, romantic simplicity, is covering Billboard and discussing her plans for her upcoming album 'The Sea'.
"I really didn't want to make the same record twice," Rae says of "The Sea," which, unlike the rather uncomplicated acoustic-pop-leaning sound of her debut, has more lush production and bleaker lyrics. "Even the label didn't want me to make the same record twice. I felt like I had developed a lot from the first one in terms of how I wanted it to sound."
Few artists would want to tamper with a sound that led to so much acclaim. But it only takes one listen to "The Sea," or a seat at one of the few gigs Rae is playing to introduce it to fans, to realize that it's much denser than the material that thrust Rae into the spotlight. From the multilayered instrumentation and production to the deeply personal lyrics -- many of which address the death of Rae's husband, saxophonist Jason Rae, in early 2008 -- it shows growth in all respects.
The Sea hits shelves on January 26th.
Lloyd Banks Arrested on Assault, Robbery Charges in Canada
G-Unit's punchline king, Lloyd Banks, was arrested in Ontario, Canada during the early morning hours of Saturday (January 9), after he and three associates reportedly assaulted a promoter over money.
According to MTV, the rapper (real name: Christopher Lloyd) and his crew got into a dispute with a promoter -- whose name has not been released -- at a local hotel over payment for a performance and appearance fee.
The promoter alleges that on early Saturday morning, Banks and three others -- Nicklas Sloane, Shawn McGee, and Tyrell Cooper -- held him in his hotel room against his will, assaulted and robbed him, following a performance at Club NV in nearby Blandford later Friday.
All four men were arrested, and charged with forceful confinement, aggravated assault and robbery.
They made a court appearance on Sunday afternoon (January 10), via video, and are due back in court sometime this week.
At press time, the four men remained in police custody.
M.I.A. Working With Producer Blaqstarr For New Album, Due In Summer
M.I.A. shot to stardom in 2008, when her single "Paper Planes" became one of the most played, sampled of the year. Since the song's buzz died down, we haven't heard much from the British rap artist, outside of the birth of her first child in early 2009.
But, she hasn't been stagnant, she's been hard at work.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine, M.I.A. said that she's hard at work on the follow-up to 2007's Kala, which should hit this summer.
She also revealed that she's been working almost exclusively with Baltimore producer Blaqstarr, which has results in music not too "gimmicky" or "hipstery."
"[He] simply makes music that sounds good, and I needed that," M.I.A. told the mag. "I definitely needed to come to music on this album, to make music. I don't want it to be gimmicky or silly or hipstery."
So far, M.I.A. calls the as-yet-untitled album "honest"
"I just want to be real, whatever that is," she explained. "Even if my songs are sh**, and if I have flaws and if I'm confused, if I offend people or if I don't offend people, I might try to work it out in public, just so you know that it’s OK to think, that thinking's not a dirty word."
Also this time around, M.I.A. says she'll be singing again -- something she strayed away from on Kala.
One of the new songs she's created is a track called "I'm Down Like Your Internet Connection," which features Filipino Verizon workers singing on the hook. According to M.I.A., she's been frustrated with her internet provider as of late, helping in the inspiration for the new track.
"I was having issues with my cable and wireless, and I was on the phone [with tech support] for three hours, and I thought, 'Maybe this needs to be part of my music, could you just learn these lyrics and sing it down the phone to me?' Ten phone calls later, I have Internet that sticks and a song," she explains.

Raekwon To Release Two New Albums in 2010
2009 was a huge year for Wu-Tang member, Raekwon. His album, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2, made multiple year-end lists and was considered one of the best albums of the year.
For the New Year, the rapper made a big announcement for fans: that he would be dropping two more new albums in 2010.
He revealed the news on his Twitter page (@RaekwonIcewater): "O, I forgot my announcement on Jan. 1 to give y'all, so [I'm going to] tell ya now! I will be droppin' 2 albums this year!"
Throughout his career, Rae has only released four solo projects. His most successful being his debut, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx..., and its follow-up in 2009. 1999's Immobilarity eventually reached gold status, but 2003's The Lex Diamond Story was less than stellar.
But, with 2009's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... 2, the rapper's buzz is at a new high, and fans are excited for what's next.
This is what Happens when u choose a career instead of Love
This year has been a rollercoaster for Rihanna. First she got Chris Brown’d and now her album is a reflection of all the things she’s going through and no one really wants to hear. Just when you thought she was at her lowest her friends say it’s only getting worse.
“She’s going too far with it [ink]. She’s impulsive: she goes all out for something, but when it’s a tattoo, you can’t take it back. Every night’s the same. She goes clubbing, downs shots and manages to stay up until the early hours. It’s playing havoc with her sleep pattern, but she doesn’t seem to care. She seems to be on a mission to drive herself into the ground.”
So if everybody knows this, then why not get the girl some help. Where is Jay-Z, does he not care about his investment???
Reggie Bush Proposal Denied By Kourtney Kardashian!
Rumored to be dealing with a little sibling rivalry, Kim Kardashian may not be getting her wish to be engaged to Reggie Bush this holiday season.
Tabloids reported that the E! reality beauty would’ve been getting a ring over Christmas, but sister Kourtney put an end to it.
One source says, “There’s always been underlying tension because Kourtney feels like she’s been playing second fiddle to Kim for so long. She was hoping that the last days of her pregnancy and the first few weeks with her newborn would be all about her.”
Adding, the source spilled, “Kourtney screamed at Reggie, ‘You can’t do this to me!’”
The insider continued, “Kourtney is extremely hormonal right now, and emotions got the best of her. Reggie was stunned and caught completely off-guard. Reggie doesn’t want to battle Kourtney, so he backed off to keep the peace.”
But that doesn’t mean there won’t be wedding bells anytime soon. “Now he’s planning on asking for Kim’s hand in marriage in early 2010, after Kourtney’s baby hubbub has died down.”
Mary J. Blige: "I Did Not Hit My Husband"
Now, there is video, and we are getting a very different version of what went down at Mary J Blige's record release party. Early reports claimed that the singer got into a fight with her husband after she caught him flirting with another woman. Apparently that is not what took place, check out what Mary J's camp told the NY Daily News and the video of the incident...
Contrary to claims that the hip-hop diva punched her husband, Kendu Isaacs, at a Chelsea club, Blige tells the Daily News she was simply trying to stop a brawl between Isaacs and her brother.
"Mary was not fighting with her husband," said Blige spokeswoman Karynne Tencer. "Her husband and her brother got into an altercation that turned into a fight. Mary went to break up the fight."
Tencer didn't immediately know the name of Blige's brother or the reason for the row.
Club security helped the Grammy Award winner pull the men apart, who also disputed reports that Isaacs' lip was bleeding.
"Nobody was bleeding," Tencer said.
Blige also denied she angrily compared Isaacs with notorious R&B star Chris Brown, who belted girlfriend Rihanna in February.
"She never mentioned Chris Brown," Tencer said. "Mary and Kendu went home together."

The Atlanta rapper will now be confined to a halfway house near his hometown of Atlanta for another two to three months before he'll taste real freedom however. T.I.'s lawyer, Steve Sadow, told XXL that he'll have more freedom under his new living conditions. "A halfway house is more along the lines of a residential dormitory," he said. "You live within this house that is broken into areas for living, and you are permitted to leave during the day for certain reasons of which would be employment, medical reasons, things of that nature, and you return to the halfway house in the evening. "It's a restriction on your liberty, but it's a way for you to re-enter into society and not be confined within a jail type institution 24-hours a day."
T.I. was sentenced to a year and a day for illegal firearms possession and for possessing a gun as a convicted felon.

Jim Jones Responds To Cam’ron’s ‘Dipset Is Over’ Statement — Says ‘I Am Dipset’
Cam'ron may have recently declared that the Dipset movement he feverishly worked to promote in the early 2000s is "over," but other founding members don't feel the same.
Jim Jones is one of them.
In a recent interview with Sirius Satellite's Angela Yee, Jimmy said that Dipset doesn't belong to any one member of the crew, so one man (Cam) can't say it's dead.
"There ain't no one person that can say Dipset is over," the rapper said over satellite airwaves. "People just been doin' a lot of YouTubing and trying to get themselves hot. When you can't get on the radio, I guess YouTube is the next best thing to get on."
According to Jones, he defines Dipset, so if Cam'ron, or anyone else don't like it, he says "come holla at him."
"I am Dipset," he said. "Whoever don't like it come holla at me. I been Dipset. It started in the projects and ain't nobody got me out of Apt. 5H, but myself ... and this is not a publicity stunt. I don't go around sitting in shopping carts," a reference to the YouTube clip where Cam'ron made the statement.
"I go around getting money. If there's a problem; there's a thin line between love and hate," Jones continued.
Cam'ron has yet to address Jim Jones' comments. More on the story as it develops.

Money Ain’t a Thing: Diddy Drops $3 Million on 40th Birthday Bash
Turning 40 is a milestone, and to hip-hop mogul Diddy, it's one to splurge on.
The Bad Boy Entertainment boss recently threw himself a lavish 40th birthday party in New York, spending a whopping $3 million on the bash, reports Page Six.
Some of that money was spent on things like his Garden of Eden theme, which included a $30,000 orchid display, a specially installed black dance floor and black chandelier, a silver confetti drop, and a performance by Al Green.
You know when Diddy throws a party, celebs come to support. The all-star guest list included Bono, Jay-Z, Martha Stewart, Denzel Washington, Nelly, and Fabolous.
The security was tight too, so tight "Twilight" star Kellan Lutz was barely able to get into the VIP area.
All this went down at The Plaza Hotel in New York City.
Peep Game Here First: 2009 American Music Awards Pics
R&B ladies Mary J. Blige, Keri Hilson, and Alicia Keys hit up the red carpet for the American Music Awards.
The Game Says ‘Maybe One Day [Me and 50 Cent] Will Record Again’
Last week 50 Cent said he'd never work with The Game again, following news that the Compton rapper was back in the studio with Dr. Dre. However, Game is taking the high road, saying if 50 was open to it, he'd be willing to work with Fif' once again.
In a new interview with Complex.com, Game was asked about 50's remarks about collaborating again, to which he said it's just the G-Unit General's ego talking.
"50's just bitter, man. For what reason? I don't know. He doesn't have to be," said the rapper. "Me and his beef is old at this point. It's pure comedy for me at this point. When he says something, I laugh. If I shoot a shot back, it's just a joke at this point. Nobody is going to kill each other. Nobody is gonna beat each other's ass. I'm not gonna do none of that. So we might as well get along.
"He said recently in an interview that he'll never work with Game again, but that's all him talking and his ego," Game continued.
Despite the bitterness between the one-time collaborators, Game recognizes that his biggest hits came when he and Fif' were working together under the same umbrella. Today, he staying optimistic, saying one day, a Game/50 collabo could happen.
"[50 Cent] never be as big as he was and he'll never be able to put out an album that people will be waiting for and anticipate as much without me, period," Game explained. "And I ain't saying that he needs me, but me and him made the best records together. I understand it, he needs to understand it, and maybe one day we'll record."
To read Game's entire interview -- where he speaks on his relationship with Interscope, the meaning behind the title of his upcoming album, Shyne, and more -- head over to Complex.com.
The Game's upcoming R.E.D. Album is slated for a February release. Features include Rick Ross, Beanie Sigel, Young Jeezy, and Gucci Mane, among others.
Diddy on Shyne’s Deportation: ‘He Deserves To Come Back’
Shyne was officially deported by to Belize in late October, after serving eight years or a 10-year sentence for his part in a New York club shooting in 1999.
When news first broke of his impending release, Bad Boy Records founder Diddy said he had been in contact with the rapper, saying he was in good spirits and ready to be released. However, that turned out to not be true.
Shyne told Rolling Stone, shortly after, that he hadn't spoken to Diddy in years, and probably would never speak to him.
"I want it known that this supposed conversation is a figment of Sean Combs' imagination," Shyne said in a statement. "He never spoke with me, he never visited me nor would I ever accept a phone call or visit from him. The only way I would do either of those things would be if he stepped up and did the right thing for the victims of the incident."
Despite calling him out for the made-up story, Diddy spoke out -- positively -- about the rapper's deportation recently, via an interview with Funkmaster Flex on New York's Hot 97 radio station, in which the hip-hop mogul said Shyne deserves to be allowed into the U.S.
"I've never had any problem with Shyne," Diddy said on the air. "I've never had any problem with him, I was looking forward to him coming home and just getting out here and letting people see what I saw. I think [his career] was cut down too early, people never got a chance to see what I saw.
"The thing that bugs me out is people forget what was going on at the time, [Hot 97] was throwing so many stones at me, telling me how Shyne sounded like Biggie. All the cats up here at this station was throwing stones at me and I was telling them, 'Nah, the kid got something special,' Diddy continued. "At the end of the day, when [someone goes] to jail, a lot of people jump on the bandwagon and it was beyond that to me. I never wish bad on anybody, I only wish somebody the best and I hope he gets to come back to the United States, he did his time, he deserves to come back."
Right now, Shyne is in Belize, getting used to freedom. It's said that he plans to begin recording new music soon, while he and his family fight the immigration decision from his home country.

The state of Louisiana filed a lien against Big Boi (real anem: Antwan Patton), and his wife for $55,727 back in JUne in Fulton County Superior Court.

Aside from tax problems, Big Boi has been hard at work on his long-delayed solo album, Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, which is expected to drop late this year.

Sexy to me is about the confidence you posses. It’s a state of mind and a state of being. What I find sexy in a man is the way he carries himself, his demeanor, and the way he treats a woman. A guy is sexy when he is so confident that he is not worried about anything anyone has to say. I love men who are truly secure in themselves…and his woman…that’s sexy.
Attention Whore Feud Between Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian Gets Ugly
Paris Hilton, who is now 28, says she is jealous that her former BFF Kim Kardashian is in higher demand and gets more publicity then her. Sources close to Paris, say that the former socialite is furious that Kim who got her start by hanging out in Hollywood with her, now has it all; the reality shows, the magazine covers, the big appearance fees and promotional deals.
Once upon a time, Paris could easily demand $100,000 for club appearances but now with Kim and the Kardashians on the scene, it’s harder for Paris to do that. With magazines bidding around $300,000 for Kourtney’s baby-shower and baby pictures, and Khloe’s wedding bringing in record ratings for E!, it’s apparent that the Hiltons are out and the Kardashians are in. Our guess is that The Kardashian girls seem more real, and girls identify with them more as opposed to Paris and her excessive lifestyle.
At 28, the last thing on Paris’ mind should be if she’s an “it” girl or not. That ship has come and sailed.

I Do The Impossible will drop Friday (November 20)
50 Cent Will Help Dre Break Another Artist — But Will Never, Ever Work With Game
"Obviously Dre can create the best possible production for the artist and groom him to the right space," 50 continued. "But going to introduce him to the general public would be something you want 50 to go do."
While helping break a new artist with Dr. Dre is a go, 50 has vowed to never work with The Game again, even if Dre specifically asked him to, say, for a record on Detox. No matter how perfect the record was, Fif' says no way!
"No," Fif' stated flatly in his MTV interview. "No, I wouldn't do it. I'd be on a record, on a song, on the [Detox] album, but not on that record [with Game]. That's not making a song, that's making an event -- things for people to talk about. ... So there's a verse there that you think would be great for both of us, I just say, 'Erase his verse and put something in better than that.' "
Floyd Mayweather on Fighting Manny Pacquiao: ‘If He Wants Me, Step Up to the Plate and Say It
Now that Manny Pacquiao has demolished everyone in his path over the past few years -- including his most recent victory over Miguel Cotto -- everyone is wondering who's next.
While the answer fans are waiting to hear is Floyd Mayweather, both have yet to confirm or deny whether a meeting is in their immediate future. Well, Mayweather says if Pac-Man wants it, all he's got to so is say so.
"Manny Pacquiao is the fighter and every time someone asks him if he wants to fight me, he says it is up to his promoter, he's going to take a vacation, whatever the answer is. I have yet to hear him actually say, 'yes I want to fight Mayweather,' the undefeated Mayweather said recently.
"We are the fighters and if one fighter is talking about fighting another fighter, then they should just come out and say it. Manny Pacquiao doesn't say anything directly about fighting me, because he might just know it's not a fight he can win," he continued.
As he continued his explanation over a possible showdown with Pacquiao, Mayweather says that the pride of the Philippines is contradicting himself. If fighting is a strictly business for Mayweather, where he takes the safest route to make the most money, he asks: why has Manny Pacquiao never stepped up and said he wants to fight him?
And, if it does happen, he won't win, Mayweather added.
"He said during an interview he did leading up to his fight that he didn't think I wanted to fight him and that boxing for me was just a business and I wasn't interested in a good fight," said Mayweather. "But again, he never said during that interview that he would fight me. Why is he talking about what I won't do instead of what he wants to do? Plain and simple, it's because he knows he can't beat me under any circumstances."
Mayweather says that Manny's camp has built an image of a fighter who has the best chance of beating him. He doesn't feel Pac-Man is that fighter. According to Money May, boxing fans want a fighter to give him the most trouble, and there's a long line that want to try.
"The world is much more intrigued by the thought of someone fighting me who can beat me. That is what everyone wants to see and the boxing world is trying to find that guy," explained Mayweather. "Manny Pacquaio's people have done a good job of creating an image of him to be this unbelievable fighter and now the so-called guy to beat me. But like all the rest, he's not the one.
"There is boxing and then there is me. The rest are just falling in line behind me or are trying to get in line to fight me. And that includes Manny Pacquiao too," he continued.
In conclusion, the undefeated welterweight -- whose record stands at 40 and 0 -- said if Manny wants to fight him, step up and be "his own man". If he can do that, Mayweather says it's on.
"Tell Manny Pacquiao to be his own man and stop letting everyone, including his loudmouth trainer, talk for him," he said. "I am my own boss, speak for myself and tell it like it is. If Manny Pacquiao wants to fight me, all he has to do is step up to the plate and say it himself."

Two Havard Lawyers Sign On To Represent C-Murder In Appealing His Murder Conviction
New Orleans rapper C-Murder has been battling a murder charges for since earlier this decade, but that battle ended in August, when he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
The rapper (real name: Corey Miller) is attempting to appeal the decision. The only problem is that the legal fees, over the years, have depleted his bank account and can no longer afford his own lawyer, but two individuals are coming to his aide.
According to reports, two Harvard lawyers has signed on to represent C-Murder, declaring him indigent so that he may make his appeal and access court records at no cost.
The cost for the case records is $20,702, which Miller is unable to pay. A hearing has been set for December 10th.
C-Murder was convicted of the 2002 shooting of 16-year-old Steve Thomas, which took place at a now-closed nightclub in Harvey, Louisiana.
He also faces a civil suit for Thomas' death.
"Right now, C-Murder is a victim of a crime himself," said C-Murder's brother, hip-hop entrepreneur Master P. "He's innocent on this case, but because of his name, image and past, that's given them the right to take him away off the streets. It's a sad case, all around."
Omarion Alludes That Amber 'Lacks Class'
Unlike the rest of the world, Omarion would not 'wife' the likes of Amber Rose. In a recent interview with Sister 2 Sister mag, the 'I Get It In' singer reveals that he desires a girl with a little more class. Low blow or just telling the truth? You be the judge and read below.
The Ice Box hitmaker, 24, was rumored to have secretly married a bisexual stripper earlier this year (09) but he has laughed off the reports and claims he is not even dating. The idea of romancing a woman like model Rose – who has openly admitted to kissing women – doesn’t appeal to the former B2K singer.
He tells Sister 2 Sister magazine, “No disrespect, but no Amber Rose for me. Everybody has their past – and don’t get me wrong, I’m not judgmental at all – but I do like a certain amount of class.” Omarion wants to set the record straight about his relationship status once and for all: “I’m not married. I’m chilling.
“At this moment I’m not (dating). I have friends that I converse with, and I have that male-female camaraderie, but there’s no girlfriend at the moment.”
Well...the young man was just stating his opinion. We all already know that Amber Rose isn't exactly Michelle Obama. Although, this is coming from the same person who was making advances toward Khloe Kardashian, so.....yeah.

Hopefully, she slips in a few MJ cuts for us. If she performs even a small portion of 'Control' or 'Rhythm Nation' we just might pass out.
"We’re thrilled about having Janet Jackson open this year’s show,” said American Music Awards producer Larry Klein. “She is an incredibly dynamic performer and I think the audience will be excited to see what she has in store"
